ABOUT

Emma Willingham Ware,
PhD, RD, CSSD, LD

Dr. Emma Willingham Ware is a Registered Dietitian and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics who is passionate about helping active teens and young adults to maximize their health and sports performance. Emma's unique background as both a scientist and clinical dietitian allows her to effectively translate evidence-based research into practical and personalized nutrition recommendations. Emma uses what she calls The W.A.R.E. approach - Wellness Aligned with Research and Evidence - to comprehensively assess, educate, monitor, and evaluate her clients to help them achieve total body wellness and fuel for their individual health and performance goals.

Emma attended the University of Southern California where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Master's degree in Nutrition, Healthspan, and Longevity before becoming a Registered Dietitian. After working as a clinical and sports dietitian for several years, she returned to graduate school and earned her doctorate from Texas Woman's University, where her studies and research focused on sports nutrition and women's health. Professionally, Emma has worked extensively with pediatric athletes, NCAA Division I collegiate athletes, NFL players, and Olympians and Paralympians. Emma's clinical experience has led to her specializing in caring for athletes with diverse medical and nutrition-related needs. She understands how exercise can significantly alter and/or exacerbate the nutrition intervention for many clinical diagnoses, and works with athletes to create fueling plans that merges nutrition specific to their clinical concerns and sport. She works with athletes with type 1 diabetes, disordered eating, gastrointestinal concerns, weight management concerns, picky eating, sports-related injuries and surgeries, iron deficiency anemia, and cardiovascular concerns.

One of the many things that Emma loves about the field of nutrition is that there is always more to learn, especially with the turnover of nutrition trends, research, and information. She enjoys staying up to date on such research and helping clients understand nutrition science. Emma hopes to empower clients with reliable, evidence-based information to help them develop and maintain a resilient relationship with food, mind, body, and exercise.
